Case Study : The Appointment Group

The Client
Based in London, The Appointment Group provides day-to-day and fully integrated travel management services for corporate clients, with onsite travel offices within client premises. To provide quality travel management services in a competitive market and maintain the commitment to deliver value for money, TAG forged an alliance with Galileo International, a leading provider of reliable, accurate access to inventory, schedule, and pricing information to the travel industry.

The Problem
Galileo provided a suite of software applications that would give TAG's dedicated teams the tools to deliver quality service. This software suite had to be deployed to users in 11 locations linked by low bandwidth connections with a mixture of Mac and PC client systems. Given the international nature of TAG's business, its IS department also had to ensure 24/7/365 availability.

Our Solution
Genisys used four Citrix Metaframe Presentation Servers running Metaframe XPA on Windows 2000 server with a CISCO switched backbone, integrated into an existing Active Directory Structure. The applications were served via a published desktop, which was locked down through extensive group policies. Many issues were overcome to implement the Galileo suite of applications into a Citrix multi-user environment. As further value-additions, other standard applications like Microsoft Office were installed to augment centralised control and administration.
